AVONDALE, Ariz. -- Two segments of Sunday afternoon's Round of 8 elimination race are in the books, and Stage 2 brought two very different results for Hendrick Motorsports' two playoff drivers.

After 150 laps, Chase Elliott remains inside the top 10, while teammate and fellow playoffs contender Jimmie Johnson's day has come to a close.

Elliott finished Stage 2 in ninth, picking up two extra points.

Johnson was running 11th with just one lap to go in the stage, but made contact with the wall, causing damage that sent the No. 48 Lowe's Chevrolet SS to the garage and ended his day.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. finished Stage 2 in 20th, and Kasey Kahne took the green-checkered flag in 24th.

Denny Hamlin won Stage 2.

The race will conclude with a 162-lap segment. Tune in on NBC to catch the final stage.
