WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. – The siren rang loud and true Sunday evening at the Dawsonville Pool Room.

For the first time in his career, Chase Elliott found Victory Lane in the NASCAR Cup Series, and the iconic venue in the driver’s hometown of Dawsonville, Georgia, certainly marked the occasion.

The tradition was just one of many celebratory moments following the driver of the No. 9 SunEnergy1 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1’s thrilling win.

Elliott was in for a surprise first and foremost as soon as he got back to his motorhome.

And when he finally landed back in Georgia after the race, he stepped off the plane to a hero’s welcome.

“I don’t think I know this many people,” Elliott laughed when interviewed by the local FOX station. “Great to come home tonight and finally have one to enjoy. Your first one’s something you don’t forget.”
