CONCORD, N.C. – William Byron might be only 21 years old, but he’s certainly not lacking experience when it comes to NASCAR racing.

This Sunday, Byron will make his 100th start across all three NASCAR national series.

“I’m really young, but to have that many starts now is kind of cool,” Byron said.

It began with 24 starts in the Gander Outdoor Truck Series, where he won seven races and rookie of the year honors in 2016.

He followed that with 33 starts in the Xfinity Series, where he once again earned rookie of the year honors after earning four wins and a series championship in 2017.

Sunday’s race at Texas Motor Speedway will mark Byron’s 43rd Cup Series start, bringing him to the 100 start milestone.

So far in his Cup career, he has collected a Daytona 500 pole, four top-10 finishes and the 2018 rookie of the year award.

“I feel like I’m getting the hang of being around and being on the road and things like that,” Byron said. “Just trying to still accomplish things with that.”

The site of his 100th national series start is a track where has had some of the most success of his career.

The Charlotte, North Carolina, native has finished in the top 10 in 83 percent of his Texas starts throughout all three series. He became the youngest-ever Truck Series winner at Texas with his win in June 2016, and also collected his first career Cup Series top-10 finish in last year’s spring race.

Across all three series, Byron has led a total of 41 laps at Texas, with his lap led in the spring Cup race making him the youngest driver to lead a lap at the 1.5-mile track in the Cup Series.

He’ll look to add to that success this weekend at Texas, where his crew chief, Chad Knaus, has collected seven wins.

Byron’s 100th start will get underway at 3 p.m. ET this Sunday, March 31, on FOX.

“It’s definitely awesome to have that under my belt,” the driver of the No. 24 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 said, “and be able to continue and hopefully make a lot more starts in the future.”
