HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (Oct. 13, 2009)—NASCAR fans can choose their side in the battle to control the planet during Saturday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.
Paramount Home Entertainment and ESPN are launching a unique promotional campaign to support the Oct. 20 debut of “TRANSFORMERS: Revenge of the Fallen” on DVD and Blu-ray. Paramount Home Entertainment will sponsor two of the Chevrolets taking part in the Oct. 17 Banking 500 only from Bank of America race at the Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Charlotte, N.C.
Cup drivers and Chase for the Sprint Cup contenders Ryan Newman and Jeff Gordon will go head-to-head during the 500-mile event. Newman’s No. 39 Chevrolet, uniform and crew members will sport images of Optimus Prime, the heroic leader of the peace-loving Autobots. Gordon’s No. 24 DuPont/TRANSFORMERS: Revenge of the Fallen Chevrolet, uniform and crew will don graphics of Megatron, the malevolent leader of the Decepticons. See images of Gordon’s car here.
Fans can choose their side in the classic “good vs. evil” showdown by visiting ESPN.com and voting for the car they think will finish first—either Optimus Prime (Newman) or Megatron (Gordon). The site also will feature a sweepstakes giving visitors a chance to win a VIP trip for two to the Championship at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Nov. 22 where they will meet Newman and Gordon, as well as copies of the TRANSFORMERS: Revenge of the Fallen DVD signed by Megan Fox.
Michael Bay, the director of the TRANSFORMERS megahits, will be the official pace car driver for the race, which will start at 7:25 p.m. ET on Saturday. Race coverage begins on ABC at 7 p.m.
