The Last Time: Richmond International Raceway

CONCORD, N.C. -- Hendrick Motorsports last visited Victory Lane at Richmond International Raceway in 2008, thanks to Jimmie Johnson.

But Jeff Gordon nearly gave the organization its 11th win at the 0.75-mile track earlier this season.

After taking the final restart of the night in third, he took the checkered flag in the runner-up position.

“We’re just showing up to the racetrack with cars capable of winning,” Gordon said at the time. “It’s a matter of time before we win one.”

He would grab his first victory two weeks later at Kansas.

At Richmond that night in April, Gordon was joined in the top 10 by Dale Earnhardt Jr., who finished seventh after starting 13th.

Kasey Kahne made it three Hendrick Motorsports drivers in the top 15, while Johnson battled two tire issues during the race and was scored 32nd.

In 194 starts at Richmond, Hendrick Motorsports has 10 wins, 52 top-five finishes and 92 top-10s.
