Johnson lined up 16th for the 160-lap event and maneuvered his Chevy into the top 10 by Lap 10. Johnson took advantage of a restart on Lap 137 following the third caution of the afternoon to take the race lead. Johnson would then go on to lead the final 24 laps, crossing the start finish line .400 seconds ahead of Martin to take home another Brickyard 400 win. “We have been happy with our performance, so to have it all come full circle today and lead at the right time and lead at the end and win this thing means a lot to us” Johnson told the media after the race. The victory was the seventh Brickyard 400 win for Hendrick Motorsports and Johnson’s 43rd of his NASCAR Sprint Cup career. With the win, Johnson became the only driver to repeat as a Brickyard 400 champion.
