CONCORD, N.C. – The four Hendrick Motorsports teams will head to Talladega Superspeedway this Sunday where Kyle Larson will lean on his teammates to prepare for the 2.66-mile track.

Earlier this season, Larson finished 10th at Daytona in his first start at a superspeedway with Hendrick Motorsports. He will try to build on his solid run at the 2.5-mile Florida venue with a similar run at Talladega.

“I’ll definitely lean on my teammates and team members,” Larson said. “Hendrick Motorsports has really fast superspeedway cars, so that makes your job a little bit easier as a driver and a little less stressful – I say that, and Talladega and Daytona are always stressful.”

Hendrick Motorsports has a combined 28 Superspeedway wins, with 13 of those wins coming at Talladega. The most recent Henrick Motorsports winner at the Alabama track was Chase Elliott in April 2019. Teammate Alex Bowman  finished second in the same race.

“There’s always the big wreck that you’ve got to hope to avoid and be in front of, so maintaining good track position is important,” Larson said. “Talladega has been hard on me – I’ve been upside down there down the backstretch, I’ve broken a rib there a couple years ago getting into a crash, so not a place that I love going to just because of the craziness that seems to follow me there. Daytona went really well, so hopefully Talladega will be good, too.”

While the race at Talladega has proven to be tricky for the driver of the No. 5 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE, the environment created by the fans is unlike any other for Larson.

“It’s a special race for the fans, for sure,” Larson said. “The fans are just crazy – rowdy, really into it. When things are normal with COVID and they’re allowed to camp in the infield – I don’t know if they are this year or not – but Talladega Boulevard is a lot of fun. They do a good job of just building the atmosphere up with the fans and they make you feel it come race day and driver intros on Sunday morning.”

Be sure to tune in this Sunday at 2 p.m. ET on FOX to watch Larson and the rest of the Hendrick Motorsports drivers take on Talladega Superspeedway.
